Centinela State Prison is a new 2400 - bed prison for male inmates located
in Imperial County near the City of El Centro. The new California State
Prison (CSP) - Imperial South will house 2000 Level III (medium security)
inmates and 400 Level I (minimum security) inmates.
BSE Engineering provided electrical engineering services for the site utilities
bid package. The project electrical construction cost was $7.3 million.
The electrical site infrastructure included the following:
- 12kV Main Electrical Switchgear
- Two 2000 kW Emergency Generators and Generator Switchgear
- Electrical Building
- 12kV Normal and Emergency Power Distribution
- Site Transformers and Switchboards
- Site, Exercise Yards, and Perimeter Fence Lighting
- Centralized Lighting Control System
- Central Plant
- Underground Manhole, Handhole and Ductbank Systems
- Secondary Feeders to Over 100 Building
- Communications Building
- Perimeter Guard Towers
